A slotted syringe has a slightly extended luer lock hub, which allow room for an autosampler arm to grab and hold on certain pump assemblies. The slot comes standard on 1000 series syringes to increase syringe pump compatibility.

General description
Hamilton syringe is available in gas-tight type that minimizes the gas exchange in GC analysis. It gives accurate volume delivery. The plunger is mostly unsurpassed. The tip is threaded in a luer lock syringe allowing the needle to be tightly screwed to the tip.
Application
It has been used in controlling the flow rate of the liquid samples and mobile phase during ion-pair solvent extraction performed in a microchannel fabricated in a quartz glass chip.
