Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is an eco-friendly, biodegradable polymer widely used in pharmaceuticals and cosmetics. Its non-toxic nature and versatility make it a sustainable choice, derived from renewable resources, contributing to greener product formulations. Click here for more information.

Poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) is a non-ionic hydrophilic polymer and is available in different molecular weights. It helps in the purification and crystal growth of proteins and nucleic acids. PEG and dextran together result in aqueous polymer two phase system, which is required for the purification of biological materials. PEG also interacts with cell membrane, thereby allowing cell fusion.

Application

Poly(ethylene glycol) has been used in the transformation mix solution of yeast. It has been used to prepare an agar-solute substrate to study the influence of cocoon of Cyclorana australis on liquid water exchange with the substrate.

Other Notes

In protein crystallization[1]; As fusogen to obtain hybridomas for monoclonal antibody production; Significantly enhances the transfer of membrane immunoblotting[2]
