General description
Choline chloride is a quaternary ammonium salt and associates with hydrogen bond donors (HBD). It is essential for the vital physiological functions and is used as a nutritional additive. Choline is a source of methyl groups for methyl-transfer reactions.

Application
Choline chloride has been used:
- as a component of choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) buffer and for choline uptake in cultured human neuroblastoma (SK-N-SH) cells
- for choline standard curve generation for quantifying phospholipase D (PLD) activity
- as a component of slice solution for the dissection of entorhinal-hippocampal brain slices

This product is soluble in water, tested at 50 mg/mL. Solubility in PBS has not been determined in-house. Literature suggests that choline chloride can be prepared with PBS.
