Nicotinic acid is a water soluble B complex vitamin,[1] with effective plasma lipid-lowering effect and hence is clinically used to treat hyperlipidemia.

Application

Nicotinic acid may be used as a certified reference material for the quantification of the analyte in tablet dosage forms using reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography technique.
