Opis

General description

X-Gal is a chromogenic substrate used in conjunction with IPTG for blue/white colony selection.[1] It is a soluble colorless compound comprising galactose attached to a substituted indole.[2] In the presence of X-Gal the lac⁺ bacteria after α-complementation form blue colonies and bacteria carrying recombinant plasmid form white colonies.[1]
