Sodium fluoride (NaF) has been used as a component:

• of the extraction buffer to extract proteins from Nicotiana benthamiana leaf[1]
• of the mammalian tissue lysis buffer for homogenization of mice brain[2]
• of the lysis buffer for lysing Caenorhabditis elegans to extract proteins[3]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Sodium fluoride (NaF) is used as a major constituent in toothpaste, mouth rinses, and mouthwashes. It is used as a pesticide to control larvae and insects in barns, warehouses, houses, and storage areas.[4] NaF also acts as an esterase inhibitor.[5]
