Opis

General description

Nonionic detergent used for the solubilization of membrane-bound proteins. Lacks the UV absorbance and fluorescence of TRITON^™ X-100 (Cat. No. 648462), which causes interference in spectophotometric monitoring and assays. Has a critical micelle concentration (CMC) of 250 µM.

Application

• The utilization of Triton X-100 for enhanced two-dimensional liquid-phase proteomics.: This study explores the role of Triton X-100 in enhancing protein separation techniques in biochemistry, particularly emphasizing its application in two-dimensional liquid-phase proteomics to improve resolution and reproducibility (Kim et al., 2011).


• Effects of environment on the photophysical characteristics of mesotetrakis methylpyridiniumyl porphyrin (TMPyP).: Research focuses on the influence of different solvent environments, including those containing Triton X-100, on the photophysical properties of porphyrins, highlighting its utility in enhancing solubility and stability in biochemical assays (Gonccedil;alves et al., 2011).
