General description

A cofactor in enzymatic acetyl transfer reactions.

Application

Coenzyme A, Trilithium Salt - CAS 18439-24-2- Calbiochem has been used to study the effects on CoA pathway T-cell anti-tumor immunity in mouse models[1]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Coenzyme A (CoA) is an essential cofactor in living organisms and plays a crucial role in carboxylic acid metabolism, which includes short and long-chain fatty acids. It is a derivative of pantothenic acid. CoA participates in the transport of the acyl group and activates carbonyl groups in the tricarboxylic acid cycle and fatty acid metabolism. Over a hundred different reactions utilize CoA as it is the source of 4′-phosphopantetheine, which acts as a prosthetic group of carrier proteins of polyketide, fatty acid, and non-ribosomal peptide synthases[2]

Preparation Note

Following reconstitution, aliquot and freeze (-20°C). Stock solutions are stable for up to 6 months at -20°C.

Cell metabolism, 33(12), 2415-2427 (2021-12-09)
Metabolic programming is intricately linked to the anti-tumor properties of T cells. To study the metabolic pathways associated with increased anti-tumor T cell function, we utilized a metabolomics approach to characterize three different CD8+ T cell subsets with varying degrees of anti-tumor activity
Roberta Leonardi et al.
Progress in lipid research, 44(2-3), 125-153 (2005-05-17)
Coenzyme A (CoA) is a ubiquitous essential cofactor that plays a central role in the metabolism of carboxylic acids, including short- and long-chain fatty acids. In the last few years, all of the genes encoding the CoA biosynthetic enzymes have
