Phorbol 12-Myristate 13-Acetate (PMA) jest otrzymywany z niedojrzałych owoców Sapium indicum. Jest to środek prozapalny. PMA wykazuje swoje działanie poprzez uwalnianie cytokin, oksydaz fosforanu dinukleotydu nikotynamidoadeninowego (NADPH) i proteaz, które powodują uszkodzenie tkanek lub aktywują produkcję histaminy. Promuje to przebudowę naczyń, ciepło i zaczerwienienie. PMA wykazuje działanie przeciwdrobnoustrojowe, proliferacyjne, antyproliferacyjne i przeciwnowotworowe.[1]

Phorbol 12-Myristate 13-Acetate is a tumor-promoting phorbol ester. It regulates various processes such as gene transcription, cellular growth and differentiation, apoptosis, the immune response, and receptor desensitization via activating protein kinase C (PKC) signaling pathways.[5] It promotes differentiation of human monocytic THP-1 cells to functional macrophages.[4]
