General description

Methotrexateis an analog of folate.[1] It shows anti-inflammatory effects throughseveral cellular mechanisms. The inhibition of dihydrofolate reductase reducesthe de novo synthesis of pyrimidines and purines, transmetylation ofphospholipids and proteins, and formation of polyamines.[2]
