o-Cresol can be used as a starting material to synthesize:
Carvacrol by alkylation reaction with propylene or isopropyl alcohol in the presence of Zr/mesoporous silica as a catalyst.
Polyisobutylenes by selective cationic polymerization of isobutylene using AlCl3 as a catalyst.
Poly(o-cresol) via oxidative coupling polymerization reaction in the presence of substituted pyridine/CuCl catalysts.

While the physical form of this product is not a specification, the material may present as a liquid or a solid. The melting point of this compound is approximately 31°C, gentle warming will re-liquify the product without harming the quality. There are other o-Cresol product options available that report the physical form on a lot-specific basis. This information is available in the product Certificate of Analysis.
