General description

Active hormonal form of vitamin D, formed by the renal 1-hydroxylation of 25-(OH)D₃. Has immunomodulatory properties in vitro and in vivo. Prevents the development of clinical diabetes in NOD mice, which are an animal model of human autoimmune diabetes. Induces reversible hydrolysis of the sphingomyelin cycle and generates ceramide. Stimulates intestinal Ca²⁺ and phosphate transport and mobilizes Ca²⁺ from bone. Involved in cellular differentiation, carcinogenesis, and insulin secretion.

Has immunomodulatory properties in vitro and in vivo. Prevents the development of clinical diabetes in NOD mice, an animal model of human autoimmune diabetes. Regulates c-myc transcription. Induces reversible hydrolysis of sphingomyelin cycle and generates ceramide. Stimulates intestinal Ca²⁺ and phosphate transport and mobilizes Ca²⁺ from bone. Also available as a 1 mM solution in DMSO (Cat. No. 509721).
