Application

Cyclohexamid (CHX) wird verbreitet für die Selektion von CHX-resistenten Hefe- und Pilzstämmen, für die kontrollierte Hemmung der Proteinsynthese für den Nachweis von kurzlebigen Proteinen, die Superinduktion der Proteinexpression und für die Einleitung der Apoptose oder die Ermöglichung der Einleitung der Apoptose durch Todesrezeptoren eingesetzt. Es entfernt Makrophagen in atherosklerotischer Plaque selektiv,[1] aktiviert kumulusfreie Oozyten von Pferden[2] und weist neuroprotektive Eigenschaften auf.[3]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Cyclohexamid hemmt die Proteinbiosynthese in eukaryotischen Zellen, indem es an das 80S-Ribosom bindet.[4]
Cycloheximid (CHX) ist ein Antibiotikum, das von Streptomyces sp. erzeugt wird. Seine wichtigste biologische Aktivität ist die Translationshemmung in Eukaryoten, die zum Stoppen des Zellwachstums sowie zum Zelltod führt. CHX wird weitläufig für die Selektion von CHX-resistenten Hefe- und Pilzstämmen, für die kontrollierte Hemmung der Proteinsynthese für den Nachweis von kurzlebigen Proteinen und die Superinduktion der Proteinexpression, und für die Einleitung der Apoptose oder die Ermöglichung der Einleitung der Apoptose durch Todesrezeptoren eingesetzt.
