This kit utilizes Neutral Red, a vital dye, to measure cell viability after exposure to any specific potential toxin. Neutral red is only taken up by viable cells. Cell viability is determined by measuring the absorbance following the specified incubation period to the potential toxin of interest. A positive control is not included and would be the untreated cells. In this case, the viability of cells exposed to a given wavelength of light compared to cells that have not been exposed. Zur spektralphotometrischen Messung lebensfähiger Zellen. Die Absorption von umgewandeltem Farbstoff wird bei einer Wellenlänge von 540 nm gemessen.

Biochem/physiol Actions
Neutralrot (NR) ist ein roter Farbstoff, der sich durch aktive Übertragung über die Zellmembranen im Lysosom anreichert.[3] Der Farbstoff wird extrahiert und die Aufnahme mittels Spektroskopie quantifiziert. Der NR-Aufnahmetest ist der am häufigsten verwendete Zytotoxizitätstest. Er findet häufig in Umweltstudien und biomedizinischen Studien Anwendung, um die Anzahl der lebensfähigen Zellen in einer Kultur zu schätzen. Der NR-Farbstoff wird bei In-vitro-Gewebekulturstudien zur Bewertung der viralen Zytopathogenität und zum Nachweis toxischer Verbindungen verwendet.[4]
