β-Glucuronidase wird in GUS-Assays als Reportergen zur Überwachung der Genexpression eingesetzt.

Biochem/physiol Actions

β-Glucuronidase katalysiert die Aufspaltung von komplexen Kohlenhydraten. Im Menschen wandelt sie konjugiertes Bilirubin in seine nicht konjugierte Form um, sodass sich das Bilirubin für eine Reabsorption eignet.

One Sigma or modified Fishman unit will liberate 1.0 μg of phenolphthalein from phenolphthalein glucuronide per hr at 37 °C at pH 5.0 (30 min assay).
