Application

Nützlich für die Quantifizierung von Biotin-Bindungsstellen. Dieses Reagenz bindet schneller an Avidin als herkömmliches Fluorescein-Biotin.

Biotin-4-Fluorescein has been used for the labeling of avidin to study the changes in protein binding capability after carbon negative-ion implantation into avidin. It has been used to study the binding affinity of streptavidin towards biotin.[1]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Biotin-fluorescein is mainly used for the assay of biotin-interaction sites in avidin and streptavidin. Binding of biotin-4-fluorescein results in strong quenching, which is used for measuring the concentration of (strept)avidin.
