General description

Immunglobulin G (IgG) ist eines der am reichlichsten vorhandenem Proteine in Humanserum mit Normalwerten von 8–17 mg/ml im Blut von Erwachsenen. IgG spielt eine wichtige Rolle bei der Abwehr von Mikroorganismen, und die Moleküle werden im Rahmen unserer adaptiven Immunantwort von B-Lymphozyten gebildet. Das IgG-Molekül hat zwei eigenständige Funktionen: das Binden des Pathogens, das die Reaktion ausgelöst hat, und das Rekrutieren anderer Zellen und Moleküle für die Zerstörung des Antigens. Die Variabilität des IgG-Pools entsteht durch somatische Rekombination und die Anzahl von Spezifitäten in einer Person zu einem gegebenen Zeitpunkt wird auf 1011 Varianten geschätzt.
