Ein zellpermeables Fumagillin-Analogon (Best.-Nr. 344845), das die Methionin-Aminopeptidase-Aktivität von MetAP2 durch kovalente Modifizierung des aktiven Histidin-Zentrums von MetAP2 (aa231 in Mensch/Maus/Ratte; aa 174 in Hefe), aber nicht von MetAP1, hemmt (IC₅₀ = 1 nM gegen menschliches MetAP2), ohne die hemmende Aktivität von MetAP2 gegen die HRI- (hämoregulierte Inhibitor-Kinase) katalysierte eIF-2α-Phosphorylierung zu beeinflussen. Die zelluläre MetAP2-Hemmung ist besonders wirksam bei der Auslösung der endothelialen Zytostase (IC_{50 = 25 pM bzw. 37 pM gegen die Proliferation von HUVEC und BAEC durch TNP-470), was TNP-470 zu einem wirksamen Mittel gegen die Angiogenese macht in vivo (2 bis 100 mg/kg bei Mäusen und Ratten; s.c.). Berichten zufolge potenter und weniger giftig als Fumagillin.}
