Application
Chondroitin scheint bei der Regulation von Chondrozyten, Nervenzellen und einigen Tumorzellen eine Rolle zu spielen. Chondroitinsulfat B wird zur Untersuchung der Zytotoxizität von β-Peptiden (1–42) verwendet.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Chondroitinsulfatmoleküle sind groß, negativ geladen und hydrophil und somit zu unflexibel, um sich zu einer kompakten globulären Struktur zu falten. Sie bilden deshalb poröse hydratisierte Gele, mit denen sie dem Gewebe mechanische Unterstützung bieten und eine schnelle Diffusion von wasserlöslichen Molekülen sowie die Zellmigration ermöglichen.

Dieses Produkt ist zu 100 mg/mL in Wasser löslich.

Chondroitinsulfat A ist ein säurehaltiges Mucopolysaccharid, das in Knorpel sowie der Haut, Kornea und Nabelschnur vorkommt. Es besteht aus alternierenden N-Acetylgalactosamin-, D-Glucuronsäure- und Sulfatresten in äquimolaren Mengen und wird am Kohlenstoffatom 4 des N-Acetylgalactosamins sulfatiert.
