General description

Somatotropin (UniProt P01241; also known as GH, GH-N, Growth hormone 1, hGH-N, Pituitary growth hormone) is encoded by the GH1 (also known as GH, GHN, IGHD1B) gene (Gene ID 8856) in human. Somatotropin is a peptide hormone that plays an important role in growth control by inducing IGF-1 secretion in liver and other tissues. It stimulates myoblast differentiation and proliferation, as well as amino acids uptake and protein synthesis in muscle and other tissues. Acromegaly is a rare endocrine syndrome caused by a GH-secreting pituitary adenoma. Acromegaly may also be rarely associated with a hypothalamic or an ectopic GH-releasing hormone-producing tumor.
~25 kDa observed. This protein has several isoforms from ~20-25 kDa

Immunogen

GST-tagged recombinant protein corresponding to human Somatotropin/GH1.

Application

Anti-Somatotropin/GH1 Antibody, clone 1H1.1 is an antibody against Somatotropin/GH1 for use in Western Blotting.

A major focus of breast cancer research is to understand the mechanisms responsible for disease progression and drug resistance. Toward that end, it has been found that approximately two thirds of all human breast carcinomas overexpress the Estrogen Receptor α (ERα) protein and it remains the primary pharmacological target for endocrine therapy1,2. The normal cellular function of ERα is as a transcription factor that mediates a wide variety of physiological processes, many of which are dependent upon phosphorylation of the receptor at specific amino acid residues3,4. Indeed, ERα is known to be phosphorylated at a multitude of different sites, yet how these all correlate to disease remains unclear5. Here, we interrogated multiple sites of ERα for phosphorylation status by screening an extensive panel of different breast cancer patient samples and other non-breast cancer tissue microarray (TMA) slide samples to determine their relevance to disease.
