General description
Wachstumshormon (GH) ist ein Hypophysenhormon mit einem Molekulargewicht von 23 kDa. GH der Ratte ist in seiner Proteinsequenz zu ca. 97 % mit GH der Maus und zu 65 % mit humanem GH homolog. Das Hauptziel der Wirkung des Wachstumshormons ist das zentrale Nervensystem. In Tiermodellen übt dieses Hormon neuroprotektive Wirkung gegen neurodegenerative Stimuli aus und verhindert Nervenverlust bei hypoxisch-ischämischer Schädigung. Deshalb beeinträchtigt ein verringerter Spiegel des Wachstumshormons im Alter die Hirnfunktion und führt zu Störungen des Gedächtnisses und der kognitiven Fähigkeiten. Dieses Ratten-/Maus-Wachstumshormon-ELISA wird zur Messung und Quantifizierung des Wachstumshormonspiegels in der Metabolismus-, Endokrin- und Zellsignalforschung verwendet.
