Beschreibung

General description

GIP, auch bekannt als gastroinhibitorisches Peptid oder glucoseabhängiges insulinotropes Peptid, wird von dem Gen kodiert, das dem menschlichen Chromosom 17q12-q21 zugeordnet ist. Es wird in den K-Zellen des Darmepithels produziert und von diesen sezerniert. Die GIP-Sekretion im Verdauungstrakt spielt eine wichtige Rolle bei der Glucose-Homöostase. Es stimuliert die Sekretion von Insulin aus den Pankreas-β-zellen nach oraler Aufnahme von Nährstoffen. Außerdem fördert GIP die Insulin-Biosynthese und β-Zell-Proliferation und verringert die Beta-Zell-Apoptose GIP ist auch am Fettstoffwechsel beteiligt, indem es die Synthese von Triglyceriden in Adipocyten stimuliert. Erhöhte GIP-Spiegel können zu Fettleibigkeit und Hyperinsulinämie führen. Dieser Human-Gesamt-GIP-ELISA wird zur Messung und Quantifizierung des GIP-Spiegels in der Metabolismus- und Endokrinforschung verwendet.
