Beschreibung

General description

Ein amyloidophylischer Farbstoff, der spezifisch β;-Faltblatt-Stapelaggregate färbt. Nützlich zur Markierung und zum visuellen Nachweis von Amyloidablagerungen in Nervengewebe. Bindet an Amyloid-Fibrillen, jedoch nicht an nicht polymerisiertes Amyloidpeptid. Hemmt die Anlagerung der mit Scrapie assoziierten protease-resistenten Isoform des Proteins PrP ohne Beeinträchtigung der normalen Isoform. Hierbei findet möglicherweise eine Überstabilisierung der Konformation statt. Hemmt bewiesenermaßen ebenfalls die Bindung von Pot1 an telomerische DNA.
