General description
Neo-Clear™ (Xylol-Ersatz) für die Mikroskopie ist ein aliphatisches Kohlenwasserstoffgemisch, das als Ersatzprodukt für Xylol in histomedizinischen Anwendungen dient, wie histologische Verarbeitung, Entparaffinierung und Klärung nach der Dehydration im Färbungsprozess. Wenn Neo-Clear™ anstelle von Xylol verwendet wird, ist keine Veränderung der Verfahren oder Inkubationszeiten erforderlich. Da die Verdampfgeschwindigkeit von Neo-Clear™ niedriger ist als die von Xylol, werden Geruchbildung und Gestank im Labor wesentlich reduziert. Da Neo-Clear™ empfindlicher auf Wasser in Lösungsmitteln reagiert (Trübung ist möglich), sollten möglichst keine Lösungsmittel technischer Güte verwendet werden. Could this melt the polycarbonate membranes just like in the case of xylene?

The product's chemical composition is "hydrocarbons, C10-C12, Isoalkanes at 100% or less. It is not known whether Neo-Clear is compatible with Polycarbonate.

Is it possible to use NeoClear with paraffin tissue that was initially processed using Xylene?

After embedding the slides in paraffin, Neoclear or Xylene can be used to clear the slides and remove the paraffin before staining. If NeoClear is chosen, NeoMount should serve as the permanent mounting media. It is generally not recommended to use NeoClear and a xylene-based permanent mounting media, as the standard practice in histology is to use a clearing agent that matches the permanent mounting media. If an aqueous mounting media is utilized, the slides are stained, washed in water, and then coverslipped with the aqueous mounting media. In the case of aqueous mounting media, the slides do not undergo NeoClear or Xylene treatment.
