Rifampicin, a rifamycin, is active against mycobacteria. Rifamycin, is also an inhibitor of chloroplast RNA polymerase and may be used to study chloroplast-level DNA transcription in plants.

Hemmt den Zusammenschluss von DNA und Proteinen zu reifen Viruspartikeln.

Wirkungsweise: Inhibiert die Initialisierung der RNA-Synthese durch die Bindung an die β-Untereinheit der RNA-Polymerase.
