Beschreibung

General description

Histones are highly basic chromatin proteins. They tightly pack and organize eukaryotic DNA into nucleosomes. Nucleosomes consist of a histone octamer made of a tetramer of histones H3 and H4 with two dimers of histones H2A and H2B, wherein the 147 DNA base pairs are wrapped around this histone complex.[1]

Application

Histone H4 human has been used in far-western blot analysis for protein identification.[2] It has also been used in the preparation of standard protein solution for protein digestion.[3]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Histones regulate transcription, DNA replication, DNA repair, and recombination.[1]
