Formiatdehydrogenase (FDH) wird für die Diagnostik in großtechnischen Industrieprozessen verwendet. Es wird bei der Herstellung einer unnatürlichen Aminosäure, L-ter-Leucin, einer Komponente einiger HIV-Protease- und Matrix-Metalloprotease-Inhibitoren verwendet.[1]

Formiatdehydrogenase ist an der Regulierung der Stressantwort von Pflanzen beteiligt[2] und katalysiert die Reduktion von NAD+ zu NADH.[3]
Formiatdehydrogenase ist ein abundantes Enzym aus der Hefe Candida boidinii (CbFDH), das bei der Energieversorgung von methylotrophen Mikroorganismen und bei der Regulierung der Stressantwort von Pflanzen eine wichtige Rolle spielt.[1]
