General description

Betamethason ist ein Corticosteroid mit entzündungshemmenden und immunsuppressiven Eigenschaften, das insbesondere dann verwendet wird, wenn Wasserretention unerwünscht ist. Es wird als topische Creme, Salbe, Lotion oder Gel zur Behandlung von Juckreiz (z.B. von Ekzemen) angewendet. Corticosteroid stimuliert fetale Lungenreifung und verringert die Häufigkeit und Mortalität von intrakraniellen Blutungen bei Frühgeborenen.
