Ampicillin trihydrate has been used as reference standard for determining the residual solvents and its effect on ampicillin trihydrate crystal structure using GC, X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR).

Biochem/physiol Actions

Ein β-Lactam-Antibiotikum mit Aminogruppen-Seitenkette an der Penicillinstruktur. Penicillin-Derivat das die bakterielle Zellwandsynthese (Peptidoglycan-Vernetzung) hemmt, indem Transpeptidasen an der inneren Oberfläche der bakteriellen Zellmembranen inaktiviert werden. Bacterizid nur für wachsende Escherichia coli . Art der Resistenz: Spaltung des β-Lactamrings des Ampicillin durch β-Lactamase. Antimikrobielles Spektrum: Gram-negative und Gram-positive Bakterien.
