Beschreibung

General description

Thermal decomposition of iron(III) nitrate nonahydrate has been reported. Fe₂O₃ was obtained as the major decomposition product at 523K.

Application

Iron(III) nitrate nonahydrate may be employed as an inorganic precursor for the preparation of iron(III)-doped titania nanoparticles by modified sol-gel method. Ferric nitrate nonahydrate supported on silica may be used for the preparation of benzils.
