Beschreibung

General description

N-terminal active peptide fragment of the native hormone that functions as a regulatory factor in the homeostatic control of Ca²⁺ and phosphate metabolism. Regulates Ca²⁺ and phosphate flux across cellular membranes in bone and kidney, resulting in increased serum Ca²⁺ levels. Increases the activity of osteoblasts and osteoclasts. Increases tubular reabsorption of Ca²⁺ and stimulates renal hydroxylation of 25-(OH)-Vitamin D₃ to 1,25-(OH)₂-Vitamin D₃. Increases the production of inhibitory IGF binding protein 4 in bone cells.
