General description

Complete liquid version of the original M 199 formulation published by Morgan.
Medium 199 is a combination of vitamins, amino acids, and other factors that were originally developed as a completely defined media formulation for the culture of primary explants. This medium, when properly supplemented has broad applicability, particularly for non-transformed cells. Medium 199 is widely used for vaccine production, in vitro cultivation of primary pancreatic explants, and lens tissues.

Application

Medium 199 has been used:
  • as a suspension media to maintain the primary neuronal cultures
  • as a component of the collagen gel for ex vivo embryonic heart culture
  • to maintain the ovarian tissue sections as part of the slow-freezing protocol

Good value for money and can be used as the basal medium for endothelial cell growth

Really good value for money and always arrives with a good shelf-life in terms of expiry date. Great for adding cytokines + hydrocortisone to to create your own endothelial cell growth medium - has kept my HUVECs consistently happy since I started using it in 2018. Also great to use when isolating human primary endothelial cells.
