R(+)-SCH-23390-Hydrochlorid ist ein selektiver D1-Dopaminrezeptorantagonist. Es hat eine größere Bindungsfähigkeit an 5-Hydroxytryptamin-2 (5-HT2) und 5-HT1C-Serotoninrezeptor-Subtypen in-vitro. Die Halbwertszeit von R(+)-SCH-23390 beträgt 25 Minuten nach der Verabreichung. Es bekannt, dass es eine anti-stereotypische und eine kataleptogene Wirkung hat. Es hat auch eine hemmende Wirkung auf die motorische Aktivität.
