Application

Chlorophyllin sodium copper salt has been used to study the effect of chlorophyllin against radiation-induced hematopoietic syndrome. It has been used to study the effect of chlorophyllin on the excretion of PhIP (2-amino-1-methyl-6-phenylimidazo[4,5-b]pyridine) and its metabolites into the breast-milk of lactating rats.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Chlorophyllin is a water soluble derivative of chlorophyll. It has chemopreventive properties and forms a non-covalent complex with many mutagenic/carcinogenic molecules. The complex formation reduces absorption or allows excretion of the mutagenic/carcinogenic molecules. Chlorophyllin also exhibits antioxidant, antiapoptotic and immunostimulatory effects. It provides benefits, such as prevention of body odor and increased wound healing.
