Application

Peut être utilisé à 5-10 mM pour éluer la glutathion S-transférase (GST) à partir d′agarose-glutathion.

Biochem/physiol Actions

Il s′agit d′un antioxydant endogène qui joue un rôle essentiel dans la réduction des espèces réactives de l′oxygène formées au cours du métabolisme cellulaire et de l′activation métabolique respiratoire. La glutathion S-transférase catalyse la formation de thioéthers de glutathion avec les xénobiotiques, les leucotriènes et d′autres molécules portant un centre électrophile. Le glutathion forme également des ponts disulfure avec les résidus cystéine des protéines. Via ces mécanismes, il peut avoir l′effet paradoxal de réduire l′efficacité des agents anticancéreux.
