General description
1-Thioglycerol stimulates the synthesis of porphyrin in aerobically growing Escherichia coli. It is an inhibitor of glycerol kinase activity in vitro and in situ. [1]

How does the storage temperature relate to shipping conditions?

The storage conditions that a Sigma-Aldrich catalog and label recommend for products are deliberately conservative.
