General description
Cette solution de pénicilline/streptomycine, également appelée "solution Pen-Strep", est la solution d'antibiotiques la plus courante pour la culture des cellules de mammifères. Elle est utilisée pour maintenir des conditions stériles lors de la culture de cellules, ayant peu d'effets délétères sur les cellules en culture.[1]
Application
L'association pénicilline/streptomycine est utilisée comme supplément dans les milieux de culture cellulaire afin de juguler la contamination bactérienne. La concentration recommandée dans les applications de culture cellulaire est de 10 ml/l.
L'association pénicilline/streptomycine en solution a été utilisée comme supplément dans différents types de milieux : milieu de culture de cellules ganglionnaires rétiniennes (RGC)[2], milieu de croissance α-MEM (milieu essentiel minimum)[3], milieu d'Eagle modifié par Dulbecco (DMEM)/mélange nutritif F-12 (Ham)[4], DMEM[5] et DMEM/F-12 + GlutaMax, entre autres.[6]

Ce produit est formulé pour contenir 10 000 unités de pénicilline et 10 mg de streptomycine par millilitre, solubilisés dans un tampon citrate développé en interne.
Conserver le récipient bien fermé dans un endroit sec et bien ventilé. Les récipients ouverts doivent être refermés avec soin et conservés en position verticale afin d'éviter toute fuite. Classe de stockage (TRGS 510) : liquides non inflammables

Is it possible to thaw it before use by taking it out of the -20°C storage? If so, what is the recommended method for thawing?

It is best to aliquot it, keep the stock at -20°C, and take out the needed amount, leaving it in the fridge (4°C) overnight for use the next day. Warming it before use in a warm water bath is not recommended.
