Application

Chloro-APB hydrobromide has been used to pharmacologically stimulate D1 dopamine receptors and study its influence on locomotor response in fat mass and obesity-associated protein (FTO) deficient dopamine D1 receptor-expressing medium spiny neurons (D1 MSNs) of mice.[1]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Chloro-APB hydrobromide, also known as SKF 82958, is a D1 dopamine receptor agonist.[1] D1 receptor agonists prevent and reverse fentanyl-induced respiratory depression, without impairing opioid analgesia, in cats.[2]

Opioids depress respiration and decrease chest wall compliance. A previous study in this laboratory showed that dopamine-D(1) receptor (D(1)R) agonists restored phrenic nerve activity after arrest by fentanyl in immobilized, mechanically ventilated cats. The reinstated phrenic nerve rhythm was slower
