Biochem/physiol Actions

Ara-C incorporates into DNA and inhibits DNA replication by forming cleavage complexes with topoisomerase I resulting in DNA fragmentation; does not inhibit RNA synthesis. Anti-leukemia agent.

  1. How long could a solution of 2uM be stable at -80C? Would this storage help the aliquots last longer than a year at -20C?

    1. The stability of this product in solution for extended periods has not been determined. Stock solutions stored in aliquots at -70°C are stable up to 6 months. Stock solutions may also be stored at -20°C, however no time frame has been established.

  2. Hello, does the freeze-thaw cycle affect the potency or stability of cytarabine?

    1. The freeze-thaw stability of this material in solution has not been determined. However, Cold Spring Harbor Protocols suggests solutions are stable for several weeks when refrigerated. For long term storage, store solutions in working aliquots at −20°C . Please see the link below to review this information:

    1. This product is soluble in water at 50 mg/mL and may be filter sterilized. It is recommended to use a low protein binding filter membrane, such as PES, to prevent product retention in the filter. Solution stability has not been determined, however, Cold Spring Harbor protocols suggest that the filtered stock solution may be stored refrigerated or frozen.
