General description

Acetanilide is a member of acetamides. It is used as a precursor compound in the synthesis of dyes, varnishes, and rubber accelerators. It is also used as a key intermediate for many pharmaceutical compounds.

Application

Acetanilide can be used as a reactant to synthesize:
  • Oxindole derivatives via Ir-catalyzed intermolecular C-H functionalization with diazotized Meldrum′s acid.
  • Ortho-Haloacetanilides via regioselective C-H functionalization/halogenation reaction in the presence of Pd(OAc)2 and Cu(OAc)2 catalyst.
  • Chlorosubstituted acetanilides via oxidative chlorination with HCI and m-chloroperbenzoic acid in DMF.
