Questions

  1. Hello, I'm looking for a micro cuvette for both uv-vis absorption and photoluminescence. Ideally, the cuvette should have 3 windows, with optical-path 10mm for the absorption. Is the ultra micro cuvette (Z600415) suitable for this purpose?

    1 answer
    1. This product is not ideal for this specific purpose. This cuvette is designed with two polished windows for use in absorption experiments, making it unsuitable for photoluminescence experiments. High-quality quartz cuvettes designed for fluorescence experiments can function in UV-Vis absorption experiments, but they are typically designed with different considerations.

Cuvettes designed for photoluminescence experiments usually have polished windows on all sides, as the detector is placed 90 degrees relative to the light path. Cuvettes designed for absorption experiments typically have two parallel polished windows and two parallel opaque windows, as the detector is placed in line with the light path. The opaque windows reduce light scattering, which decreases overall signal intensity. Cuvettes manufactured for these different purposes also generally have different path length tolerances.

Using separate cuvettes for these different photometric techniques is recommended. For detailed assistance in selecting the ideal cuvettes, please contact Technical Service directly.
