General description

Nuclear Fast Red is an anthraquinone dye, and isalso called as calcium red.

Application

Used as a red nuclear counterstain. Nuclear Fast Red solution has been used:
  • In the dual-beam (FIB (focused ion beam)/SEM (scanning electron microscopy)) analysis of intracellular MNPs (magnetic nanoparticles) distribution.[1]
  • As a counterstain in LacZ tissue histological analysis, and in extracellular matrix proteoglycan staining.
  • In situ hybridization.

Other Notes

Nuclear fast red 0.1% in 5% aluminum sulfate.

Questions

  1. looking for instruction to prepare a working solution of nuclear fast red stain using 60700. should Aluminum Sulfate be added? If so, can Aluminum Sulphate hydrate be used? need to use it as a counter stain for my iron staining.

    1 answer
    1. The Nuclear Fast Red solution can be prepared following a specific protocol with catalog number N8002It is recommended to use aluminum sulfate anhydrous over the various hydrated forms of aluminum sulfate. The hydrated forms of aluminum sulfate may contain 30 to 50% less aluminum sulfate per gram of solid, potentially leading to shorter solution stability. The prepared solution is suitable for iron staining and other special stain procedures that require a non-blue nuclear counterstain.
