Application

MaxGel ECM is used for the following applications:
  • Extracellular matrix (ECM) protein binding assays[1][2]
  • Cell invasion assay[3]
  • Cell culture[4]
This product creates a three-dimensional environment that improves cellular proflieration by promoting cell growth and migration, and has been shown to aid the proliferation of many types of cells, including human embryonic stem cells, neural stem cells, neurons, glia, astrocytes, fibroblasts, hepatocytes, and keratinocytes.

Other Notes

MaxGel ECM contains human extracellular matrix components including collagens, laminin, fibronectin, tenascin, elastin and a number of proteoglycans and glycosaminoglycans. This basement membrane extract reproduces the cooperative interactions between epithelia and mesenchyme that occur during the development and organotypic cell culture of skin.

Questions

1–9 of 9 Questions
  1. How long can I store diluted ECM for reusing purposes?

    1 answer
    1. The long term storage of this material in dilute form has not been evaluated. For best results, dilute just prior to use with pre-chilled BME medium. Upon thawing, the concentrate may be aliquoted to single use volumes and stored at -70°C for up to 1 year. Please see the link below to review additional information available in the product datasheet:

  2. Hello there, Could you please provide the reconstitution details of this item(cat# E0282), I would like to know the ratios for example is it 1:100 etc.

    1 answer
    1. For monolayer culture or when a thin coating of BME is desired, dilutions of as high as 1:100 can be used. An empirically determined dilution should be performed depending on the particular application. Human embryonic stem cells and keratinocytes grow well when cultured on a 1:100 dilution of MaxGel ECM.
Please follow the instructions from the Product Information Sheet linked below:

  3. How do I handle Product E0282, MaxGel™ ECM?

    1 answer
    1. Remove the product from the freezer and thaw on ice just prior to use. Keep the product cold until coating.

Please see the link below to review the product datasheet which includes the coating protocol:

  4. is the Product E0282, MaxGel™ ECM from normal tissue or tumor tissue?

    1 answer
    1. This product is derived from the basement membranes of epithelial cells and fibroblasts. These are not strictly tumor cell lines as the normal genotype and phenotype are retained.

      Helpful?

  5. Can this product also be used for cell differentiation?

    1 answer
    1. The impact of extracellular matrix on cell differentiation can vary from cell type to cell type. This product is derived from human basement membrane extract that includes several components, many of which are not defined. Cell differentiation may be induced by the structural environment or other components present within the matrix. The end user would have to determine the suitability of the product based on the cell or tissue type of interest.
