Application

Adenine hemisulfate salt has been used as a component of:
  • complete supplement mixture (CSM)
  • yeast extract with supplements (YES) medium for culturing S. pombe strain[1]
  • synthetic complete glucose-based yeast media (SC) for S. cerevisiae cultures[2]

Biochem/physiol Actions

Adenine is a purine nucleobase with a wide range of chemical and biochemical roles in vivo and in vitro. It is a regulatory molecule and a component of DNA, RNA, cofactors nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD), flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD) and signaling molecules (cAMP).[3]
