5α-Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is a steroid hormone and metabolite of the natural androgen, testosterone, formed by the action of NADPH-dependent enzyme 5α-reductase. It has been implicated in a broad range of diseases from male pattern baldness to benign prostatic hyperplasia and prostate cancer. As an anabolic steroid, DHT has also been used as a performance-enhancing drug to promote muscle growth.

Is this suitable for cell culture?

This product is prepared in methanol, which would be toxic to cells. Currently, there is no cell culture tested product option available. hi, am I right in thinking that D-073 arrives in 1mL vials and they are to be stored long term at -70C. We only have -80C freezers, do you see that as a problem?

The product COA (https://www.sigmaaldrich.com/certificates/Graphics/COfAInfo/fluka/pdf/cer/D-073_FE02172263.pdf) indicates on page 10 that it is okay to store this material for long term stability at -60C to -80C, so the indicated freezer/temperature should be fine.
