General description

Aflatoxin G2 is a fungal secondary toxic metabolite synthesized by Aspergillus parasiticus, Aspergillus flavus, and Aspergillus nomius,[1] species that are found in tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Aflatoxin Gs (AFGs) are derivatives of difuranocoumarin and contain a bifuran group linked to a coumarin nucleus and a lactone ring.[2]

Aflatoxin G2 has been used as a standard to estimate the levels of aflatoxins by immunoaffinity column cleanup in:
  • peanut confection[3]
  • Ginseng and other roots[4]
  • olive oil, peanut oil, and sesame oil[5]

Biochem/physiol Actions
