General description

Gelatin hydrolysate is extracted from pigs, bovines, and fish by the hydrolysis of gelatin.

Application

Gelatin hydrolysate Enzymatic has been used :
  • in immunoassay
  • as an excipient in vaccine formulation to screen its ability to stabilize influenza vaccine
  • for the synthesis of gelatin hydrolysate vinyl esters

Biochem/physiol Actions

Gelatin hydrolysate possesses antioxidant, angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE)-inhibitory, antifreeze, and antiphotoaging activities. It is widely used in the food and pharmaceutical industries. Gelatin hydrolysate is used as a smart drug delivery carrier for cancer therapy and in wound dressing. It boosts skin recovery by supporting wound closure and diminishing skin wrinkles. When orally consumed, gelatin hydrolysates increase bone mass and inhibit osteopenia.

Questions

1–2 of 2 Questions
  1. Is this product a gelatin hydrolyzed using enzymes? Is there a freeze-drying or drying process during the product manufacturing process? May I know under what conditions it was hydrolyzed?(Conditions such as temperature and time)

    1 answer
    1. Yes, as noted in the product name, this item is an enzymatic digest. This pancreatic digestion results in the hydrolysis of the peptide bonds of the gelatin proteins, as mentioned in the 'DESCRIPTION' section. Unfortunately, the conditions and preparation method for this material are considered proprietary.

  2. what is the molecular weight of gelatin hydrolysate enzymatic manufactured by sigma?

    1 answer
    1. This product is a pancreatic digest of porcine gelatin. The molecular weights of the resulting gelatin fragments have not been determined. However, the predicted range is 1000 - 5000 daltons with an expected average of 1900 - 2000 daltons.
