Questions

  1. How many slides per kit can be stained using Gram stain HT90A?

    1 answer
    1. The instructions in the HT90T kit state to "flood" the slide with the various reagents included in the kit. Each bottle contains 8 fluid ounces or approximately 237 ml. If 1 ml is used per slide you would expect a maximum of 237 slides per kit. If more reagent is used this number could be cut in half, dropping the expected number to about 120 slides per kit. The thickness or the size of the specimen placed on the slide may also affect reagent usage. The volume of differentiator used can vary from customer to customer depending upon the specimen and the individual performing the assay.
A realistic number is probably in the range of 100 to 237 slides. This should however be viewed as a rough estimate, not an absolute guarantee.
