General description

Fast black K (C.l. 37190) is a lipophilic amino-substituted monoazo dye. It is also known as Brentamine fast black K salt.

Application

Fast Black K Salt hemi (zinc chloride) salt has been used for the staining of acid phosphatase activity in SDS-PAGE (sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis) and native-PAGE. It has been used for staining endopeptidase and leucine aminopeptidase activity.

Fast black K salt has various applications as listed below-

  • to stain enterochromaffin cells > as an indirect stain for periodate-generated tissue aldehyde groups
  • as a visualization agent for amphetamines and cyanobacterial toxins following their separation by thin-layer chromatography
  • for the staining of acid phosphatase activity in SDS-PAGE (sodium dodecyl sulfate polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis) and native-PAGE
  • staining endopeptidase and leucine aminopeptidase activity
