General description
Acetylcholine is a neurotransmitter released at nerve endings in both the central and peripheral nervous systems. Acetylcholine chloride (C7H16ClNO2) is a stable cholinergic agonist with muscarinic and nicotinic actions. It is available as white or off-white hygroscopic crystals, or as a crystalline powder. Acetylcholine chloride is hygroscopic in nature and is highly soluble in water, alcohol, propylene glycol and chloroform.
Application
Acetylcholine chloride has been used:
- as an agent to trigger sudomotor axon reflex response during autonomic test
- to induce contraction amplitude of pyloric circular smooth muscle strip (PCSMS) in rats
- as a substrate for acetylcholinesterase
- to stimulate after discharge in Aplysia bag cell neurons
Biochem/physiol Actions
Le chlorure d′acétylcholine, injecté à raison de 20 mg/kg de poids corporel, réduit la mortalité et les taux de cytokines pro-inflammatoires plasmatiques chez des souris présentant une septicémie induite expérimentalement . Le mécanisme anti-inflammatoire cholinergique dépend probablement de l′interaction entre l′acétylcholine et les récepteurs cholinergiques α7n présents sur les monocytes, macrophages et neutrophiles, qui diminue les taux de cytokines pro-inflammatoires telles que TNF-α, IL-1β et IL-6.
Neurotransmetteur endogène au niveau des synapses des neurones cholinergiques ; amplifie le potentiel d′action du sarcolemme, induisant ainsi des contractions musculaires.

If there is no retest or expiration date listed on the product's COA, we do not have suitable stability data to determine a shelf life. If the product quality is sensitive to short-term exposure to conditions other than the recommended long-term storage, it will be shipped on wet or dry-ice. What are the recommended storage conditions for item A6625, Acetylcholine chloride, after reconstitution?

The stock solution can be stored at temperatures below -20°C for several months. It's advisable to prepare and use the solution on the same day. However, if necessary, stock solutions can be prepared in advance, provided they are sealed and stored below -20°C. Typically, the stock solution remains stable for several months. Prior to use, it's recommended to allow the vial to reach room temperature for at least an hour before opening it.
